How to Clear Your Browser Cache

Your browser continuously stores information, and over time this can cause problems logging into or opening websites. If you're experiencing issues accessing pages or completing actions on GarageaSaleit, it's a good idea to clear your cache, or browser data, and cookies. Alternatively, you can bypass your cache to force your web browser to re-download the webpage, which will often resolve glitches. Bypassing your cache is simple, safe and causes no permanent changes.
Each browser settings are different. Locate your browser below for instructions on how to clear or bypass your cache.
Google Chrome
Clear Cache & Cookies
- On your computer, open Chrome
- At the top right, click More
- Click More tools Clear browsing data
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time
- Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes
- Click Clear data
Bypass Cache
On Windows and Linux, use one of the following:
- Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.
- Hold the Shift key and press the F5 key.
- Hold the Ctrl key and press the R key.
- Hold the Shift key and press the R key.
- Hold the Ctrl key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
- Hold the Shift key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
On macOS:
- Hold both the Cmd and Shift keys and press the R key.
- Hold the Shift key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
- Hold the Ctrl key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
Mozilla Firefox
Clear Cache & Cookies
- Click the menu button and choose "Options"
- Select the "Privacy & Security" panel
- In the "Cookies and Site Data" section, click "Clear data"
- Check the boxes next to both "Cookies and Site Data" and "Cached Web Content"
- Click the "Clear" button
Bypass Cache
On Windows and Linux, use one of the following:
- Hold both the Ctrl and Shift keys and then press R.
- Hold the Shift key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
- Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.
On macOS, use one of the following:
- Hold both the Cmd and Shift keys and then press R.
- Hold the Shift key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
Apple Safari
Clear Cache & Cookies
- Click on "Safari" in the menu bar
- Select "Empty cache" from the drop-down
- Click on the "Empty" button
- Click the Refresh icon to reload the page
Bypass Cache
For version 4 and newer:
- Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload toolbar button.
For version 3 and older:
- Hold down the Cmd key and press R. This kind of "regular" reload will usually bypass the cache.
Microsoft Edge
Clear Cache & Cookies
- Select Favorites > History
- Select Clear history
- Choose "Cookies and saved website data" and "Cached data and files"
- Select Clear
Bypass Cache
On Windows:
- Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key
Internet Explorer
Clear Cache & Cookies
- Click on the gear wheel in the top right corner
- Select "Safety" from the drop-down menu
- Click on "Delete browsing history" in the submenu
- Select "Temporary Internet Files and website files" and "Cookies and website data"
- Click "Delete"
Bypass Cache
Use one of the following:
- Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.
- Hold the Ctrl key and click the "Refresh" button on the toolbar.
Opera
Clear Cache & Cookies
On PC
- Click on Opera in the top-left corner
- Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu
- Click on "Delete private data"
- Select "Delete all cookies" and "Delete entire cache"
- Click "Delete"
On Mac
- Click on the "Tools" header
- Select "Delete private data" from the drop-down menu
- Select "Delete all cookies" and "Delete entire cache"
- Click "Delete"
Bypass Cache
Use one of the following:
- Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.
- Hold the Shift key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
- Hold the Ctrl key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
