What are the best selling items at Garage Sales?

After you have decided to have that Garage Sale and start clearing out your kitchen cupboards, kids rooms, your wardrobe and your garage, look for some of the items listed below – these are the best selling items at Garage Sales!

1. Gently used Clothing….

Everyone needs clothes!  If you haven’t worn some of your clothes for a while, or your children have grown out of their clothes, this is a great opportunity to clear some space.  Clothes are usually the best selling item at garage sales and the better you can present the item, the more chance you have of selling it.  Be sure to wash and iron the item and take a good well-lit picture…… and please, describe your item accurately including size, colour and brands

2. Tools

Let’s face it, everyone loves a tool or two!  People are always on the lookout for power tools as well as vintage and older tools for those collectors.  If you no longer need or use those tools, be sure to add them to your sale!

3. Furniture

With DIY projects soaring in popularity, people are looking for furniture that can be re-made and re-sold.  If you have an old bookcase or an old arm chair that you no longer need, be sure to include them in your sale too – although you might not need or use it any longer, someone might be able to give your old item a new life.

4. Vintage dishes, glassware and bakeware

Pyrex, Corningware and Murano are brands that come to mind…. If you have some items hidden in your cupboard or you have inherited some items you are never going to use then this is the perfect opportunity to declutter!

Be sure to list the brand and add some extra photos to your listing too.

5. Garden Tools

If you have an old lawn mower that is no longer working and taking up valuable space, someone handy might be willing to take it off your hands and get it running again.  Garden tools, pots and plants are also great items to sell in your sale as well as ladders!

6. Shoes and Handbags

Think nobody would want to buy old shoes?  Think again!  Shoes, especially in good condition and with a brand name sell like hotcakes at garage sales!  Kids grow out of shoes so fast that they don’t even have time to wear them out.  Handbags are also very popular, even if it’s no longer your style, someone may love it.

When selling shoes or handbags, clean and odour-free are a must!  If you still have boxes that’s a bonus.  Be sure to list the brand as well as the condition and size in the description.

7. Costume Jewellery

If your jewellery box is overflowing with costume jewellery you know you’ll never wear again, then your garage sale is the perfect place to unload them.  At least with an online garage sale you won’t have to deal with people with light fingers….

8. Games, Toys and Bicycles

Give those games and toys you no longer use a new home and list them in your garage sale.  Vintage games are always popular as well as Lego.  Give your bike a clean and make sure the tyres are pumped up!

9. Books

People are always looking for a good book so this is the perfect place to get rid of the books you no longer need.  Could be some novels or old textbooks – if you want them gone make them super cheap!

10. Appliances

Everyone loves an appliance!  That magic bullet that you were going to use everyday, or that bread maker or blender….  Now they are just sitting on the kitchen bench collecting dust.  The good news is, If they are still in good working order someone else may want them.

11. Camping Gear

New Camping gear can be very expensive however, used gear still in good condition is in popular demand seeing as its only used a couple of times a year….  Garage sales are the best place to sell your old camping gear – make sure you are honest in your description and take plenty of photos…

12. Exercise Equipment

Basic exercise equipment like weights are great to sell at garage sales, as well as that treadmill that’s taking up space and that weight bench.
